Lex Luthor steps up to the challenge

Main reason to have my arrogant ass drive thirty minutes to the comic store after no sleep and a miserable nightshift job was to get this issue. Excited because of the hopes in seeing more Lex Luthor being the main character for Action Comics and to see him go toe to toe with Deathstroke. But I was also not to thrilled because,.... I really can't explain it, but I personally felt that Ive seen this fight hundreds of times because of the Mortal Kombat vs DC game for the PS3 ( EPIC game by the way ).
Anyways, the story is about Lex Luthor trying to obtain the Black Ring power, like the greedy badguy that we all love him to be, Lex Luthor makes it his quest to obtain this power with the Doug Funny daydream moment of having all of the DC universe kneel before their master, oops, I mean savior. But we see somebody trying to prevent Lex from obtaining this power and Lex would realize this when he was attacked by Mr MInd. After dealing with that cartoonish catipillar, Lex decides to be smart and hire the best for protection and to realize who's after Lex, that bodyguard would be Deathstroke the Termintor, Luthor hired guardian angel. But was it a good idea to hire this guy or would it backfire on Lex and we would see our beloved Superman badguy at the recieving end of Wades battle sword.

    The Good:

    - I really liked how Paul Cornell is showing the audience a storyline that has Lex Luthor as the main character. I would say that Lex Luthor is currently getting the best with "action" and "excitement" while our beloved Superman is to busy walking around doing barely anything. Cornell would still display Lex Luthor with byfar the most entertaining and oversized ego in this issue, Lex Luthor and his willpower for his precious intellect and motivation for power. I like how Lex Luthor tries so damn hard to act like he knows what he's doing, you'll notice his poses and his dialogue to where his ideas are displayed as an great accomplishment and a point for villainy mastermind techniques. But, make no mistake, Cornell would also show that Luthor isn't no hyprocrite when he starts going against Deathstroke, which was a short, but badass moment for this issue. Third issue into this Lex Luthor starring comic and im still highly satusfied with what Cornell slapped onto the table with this villainy masterpiece.
    - For the past three issue, Pete Woods and Pere Perez would display a unique form of artwork for the storytelling in this issue. I love how these guys tell the story with the facial reactions and the detailed moments. But who really took the cake for the artwork was Brad Anderson and his use of coloring, now that was unique on how he mixed the background colors for the Antarctic sky and snow besides using plain colors that have little mixture or feeling to it. Probably the biggest highlight for these guys is the fight scene between Luthor and Deathstroke, WOW, do I love how it was displayed and drawn, now thats how a fight scene should be shown to an audience.
    - Not exciting, but yes, once again, a big highlight for me was seeing Luthor grabbing a pair of villainy balls and stepping up against the ultimate DC badass known as Deathstroke, the guy who took on a whole team of Justice League members on his own.
-Once again, the three artists responsible for the third cover for this event is probably the best Lex Luthor vs Deathstroke picture that ive seen. Cover of this comic doesn't lie and actually gives its fans the promise that it displays, a fight between these two badguys all inside this one issue.

    The Bad:

    - Yeah, yeah, I know, the damn fight scene once again, sadly it was too damn short for me and so was the whole issue itself.

    The Ugly:

    - None at all

    The Conclusion:

If you haven't seen this issue, I would suggest getting Action Comics 890-891 before buying this, so you could get the whole story on why Lex Luthor is in Antarctica and why Deathstroke is there. But, seeing how this comic is also displayed to where you could careless what the storyline is trying to tell you, then you may enjoy this comic on its own. As for the fight between these two baddies, not EPIC, but pretty awesome and interesting to see.
If you haven't got a chance to get this issue, then I would highly suggest that the next time you go to your local comicbook store, add this issue to your collection and give it a try, you may find yourself becoming a villain fan of Lex Luthor while Superman is too damn busy just walking around doing almost......nothing.
Im that Badguy and I thankyou for reading this.

Double the Fun with Lex and Conner 0

Action Comics has been experiencing a literal rejuvenating surge of stories as it's 8 months away from its highly-anticipated 900th issue. With Paul Cornell directing the book to focus on Lex Luthor's quest to gain the ultimate power, his series of events have been nothing short of exciting to read and gaze upon. Now with Pete Woods back at the pencils, can the duo of Cornell and Woods deliver another stellar contribution? Will the inclusion of the Superboy second feature affect the quality of t...

No Shortage of Action for Luthor. 0

The Good: Deathstroke vs. Luthor. I could stop my review there because seriously, that alone should be enough to get you up to go get this comic. DEATHSTROKE VS. LUTHOR. Luthor's exploring the idea of Blackest Night from a completely different angle than anything we've seen before. It's quite fascinating. Before, all the Green Lantern stuff was sort of a magic faux-science, science fiction. Luthor approaches the situation from a much more analytical 'hard science' perspective. It's really cool t...
