Ace Publications, started by Tony S. Velasquez in Manila in 1947, beginning with 1 table, 1 typewriter; and a corner located in the building of the publisher who had financed Tony S. Velasquez to start the Philippines second comic, or as they are called there, komik.
At first Velasquez was the editor, proofreader, retoucher, illustrator, advertising manager, messenger, solicitor and even janitor. A humble start to what would become one of the biggest players in the second biggest comics industry in the world after the United States.
This first komik, Pilipino Komiks, was an instant hit. Published fortnightly it would be the longest running Pinoy Komik featuring some of the most popular serial characters.
It would be only the first of hundreds of other komiks over the years from Ace and other publishers until they all but disappeared by the 21 century save for a few
