Born in Zagreb, Croatia, Emil Blonsky was a communist spy sent to steal Dr. Bruce Banner's work on gamma radiation. His intentional exposure to it mutated him into the monstrous Abomination!

Size

Height: 9'0" Weight: 1,215 lbs.

Creation

An alien entity referred to as the Stranger considered the people of Earth too irresponsible to handle their own weapons. The Hulk, one of many who was put under the control of the Stranger, was intended to destroy humanity. But Bruce Banner (the Hulk in human form) tried to kill himself to prevent doing any damage to the world under the Stranger’s control. He attempted this by exposing himself to a mega-dose of gamma radiation, which he believed would kill him. What Banner didn’t know was that Blonsky was in the room taking pictures of the gamma radiation equipment. After Banner was carried out by security, Blonsky stood in front of the machine and activated it! Saved by some unknown genetic factor, Blonsky was not killed by the great dose of radiation. Instead, he was mutated, transforming him into a beast of incredible strength: The Abomination!

Battle of Dominance

Fighting for domination of Earth, The Abomination and Hulk's first battle ended when the Abomination was kidnapped by the Stranger. The crew of a ship called the Andromeda rescued him from Stranger, and he served as the ships first mate until his return to Earth. Further defeats by the Hulk diminished Blonsky's courage and he eventually retreated into the sewers of New York.

Revenge

Irritated and jealous of Bruce Banner's happiness after his marriage to Betty Banner (aka Betty Ross, daughter of General Thunderbolt Ross), he tried to frame Bruce for murder by using his own gamma-irradiated blood to poison her. She was only saved by being placed in cryonic suspension, from which she was later revived. The Hulk's fury led him to battle and defeat Blonsky, bringing the Abomination to justice and imprisonment in a military installation.

Powers

Emils' powers are the similar to the Hulk's. but are different in a few ways; he cannot transform back into human form, his strength does not increase based on his emotional state, and his healing factor works much slower than that of Bruce. He is however much stronger than Hulk upon his initial transformation. A unique ability of his is that he is capable of entering a kind of suspended animation in certain life-threatening situations.

Alternate Versions

Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610)
Abomination is a chinese scientist named Chang Lam. He is the member of the Liberators, the evil counterpart of the Ultimates. He was later decapitated, mutilated and eaten by the Hulk.

Marvel Zombiverse (Earth-2149)
Emil is one of the infected and is now a zombie.

Other media

The Abomination plays the role of the major villain in the video game, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. A great option for fans is the ability to unlock The Abomination as a playable character upon completing the game.

The Abomination will be the next villain in the "Incredible Hulk" movie and he will be played by Tim Roth.
