Abomination

Abomination is a comic book character that first appeared in Tales To Astonish #90

A monster who strives for revenge, world dominance, and acceptance. Abomination is one of the most powerful villians in the Marvel Universe and the very few who can claim a victory over the Hulk.

Creation

Created by a freak accident, an ordinary enemy spy had been transformed into the all-powerful Abomination; and, because he received a heavier dose of radiation than Bruce Banner himself, the monster had the strength to actually defeat the Incredible Hulk in a stand-up fight.

An alien entity referred to as the Stranger considered the people of Earth too irresponsible to handle their own weapons. The Hulk, one of many who was put under the control of the Stranger, was intended to destroy humanity. Born in Zagreb, Yugoslavia, Emil Blonsky became a spy and infiltrated the U.S. Air Force base where scientist Bruce Banner was stationed. Bruce Banner (the Hulk in human form) tried to kill himself to prevent doing any damage to the world under the Stranger’s control. He attempted this by exposing himself to a mega-dose of gamma radiation, which he believed would kill him. What Banner didn’t know was that Blonsky was in the room taking pictures of the gamma radiation equipment. After Banner was carried out by security, Blonsky stood in front of the machine and activated it! Saved by some unknown genetic factor, Blonsky was not killed by the great dose of radiation. Instead, he was mutated, transforming him into a beast of incredible strength: The Abomination!

Battle of Dominance

Abomination vs. Hulk

Fighting for domination of Earth, The Abomination and Hulk's first battle ended when the Abomination was kidnapped by the Stranger. The crew of a ship called the Andromeda rescued him from the Stranger, and he served as the ships first mate until his return to Earth. Further defeats by the Hulk diminished Blonsky's courage and he eventually retreated into the sewers of New York.

The Abomination was stopped by Bruce Banner using the infinite weapon ray to sap some of the Abominations strength. However, before he could completely stop the Abomination, the excitement and unbearable tension affected Bruce's blood pressure causing him to change into the Hulk, unknowingly destroying the control lever, leaving the Abomination as strong as him.

Although their strength was equal, the Hulk was by far the more savage, the more relenting of the two. It was clear that he was the winner so the Stranger brought the Abomination up with him, for he wouldn't be missed on Earth.

Scarring

While Bruce Banner is working as a janitor at the Yucca Flats Nuclear Research Center, the Abomination attacks and tries to steal the toxic waste. He recognizes Banner and forces him into becoming the Hulk but he is shocked to see that the Hulk is now gray and not nearly as powerful. Their battle destroys much of the base and ends when the Abomination has a toxic waste container dumped on him which starts to melt his entire body. He falls to the ground and is immediately taken into custody by the government. His healing factor keeps him alive and eventually heals his entire body, but his face remains scarred for years. After escaping from the government he travels to New York City and tries to kidnap his wife and force her to live with him but he is talked out of it by a three inch tall Hulk. Afterward he takes up residence in the now empty Morlock tunnels. During his time their he confronts X-men members Marrow and Archangel and attempts to kill them for invading his new home. He only battles the Hulk one time during his stay in the tunnels.

Revenge

Irritated and jealous of Bruce Banner's happiness after his marriage to Betty Banner (aka Betty Ross, daughter of General Thunderbolt Ross), he tried to frame Bruce for murder by using his own gamma-irradiated blood to poison her. She was only saved by being placed in cryogenic suspension, from which she was later revived. The Hulk's fury led him to battle and defeat Blonsky, bringing the Abomination to justice and imprisonment in a military installation.

Red Hulk

While in Russia the Abomination was ambushed and murdered by Red Hulk using a gun made by S.H.I.E.L.D. Their battle caused the destruction and death of everyone in a nearby village. The Abomination's death was investigated by Doc Samson, She-Hulk, General Ross and Tony Stark.

Powers

The Abomination was able to lift c. 100 tons. His strength surpassed that of the Hulk when the latter was calm.  But Emil's strength does not increase based on his emotional state. While Hulk gets stronger under heightened emotional states and could thus outclass Emil in battle, given the time to do it. The Abomination can not transform back into human form as the Hulk can. Consequently his human form has been rarely seen. Blonsky retains his full mental faculty and has not been subject to intelligence fluctuations, unlike the Hulk. His body is covered with reptilian scales.

Blonsky's body is highly resistant to injury, pain and disease though not invulnerable. Blonsky's skin can withstand great heat without blistering ("up to 3,500 Fahrenheit"), great cold without freezing ("down to -175 Fahrenheit") and great impacts without injury. He has survived direct hits by field artillery. He is immune to most diseases. He can also hold his breath for extended periods. With extended lack of oxygen, great amounts of pain or other life-threatening situations can shut down his body, he actually enters suspended animation. Blonsky's body slowly heals while in this state. He can survive in this state for long periods of time. Blonsky's leg muscles allow Emil to leap great distances, up to 2 miles in a single bound.
