History

Agent of SWORD Abigail Brand first appeared in Astonishing X-Men in the shadows behind Nick Fury just after Cyclops left.

When SHIELD and SWORD then infiltrate the Benetech facility where the X-Men are investigating, Brand is questioned by Fury and the others as to why she helped Ord.

During the next arc it is explained: she was trying to stop a war breaking out between Breakworld and Earth (this was all explained when she was questioned/put on trial by the higher commanders of SHIELD/SWORD). So, to stop this, she allowed Ord to use his technology, and with the help of Dr. Kavita Rao, they created a cure (all because a mutant was destined to destroy the Breakworld).

She was later seen meeting with Maria Hill onboard the Helicarrier, where she doesn't even hide her contempt for the new director of Shield. When back on the Peak, discovers that Colossus is destined to destroy the Breakworld. We also discover that Lockheed is her mole within the mansion.

Breakworld

At the end of the Torn arc, Brand had the X-Men teleported out of the Institute and up to onboard a ship that was heading to the Breakworld, planning to stop them from launching their missile at Earth. There, after creating a diversion that was Brand's idea, they find the sculpture/carving that destines Colossus to destroy the Breakworld. After she and Beast examine the sculpture/carving and the others joke about killing her, she and Beast head off to find the weapon, but are stopped by a snow storm caused by the Breakworld ruler. Beast digs a hole which both of them climb into, and when Beast complains, she explains she doesn't need him to keep warm, and she takes her glove off, and a blue light is seen, with Beast astonished.

They later get back to the others, and she escorts Beast, Kitty and Danger to the missile, but she's shot and apparently dies.

She is seen in Giant-sized Astonishing X-men alive and fighting off Soldiers who wanted to party with her a little before taking her in. When Beast finds her alive they both pick up their antagonistic banter. After Beast accuses her of still keeping things from him after all that was happening and really gets in her face about it when she informed him that it wasn't relevant. She admits that she is really attracted to him. She also reveals that she has an alien heritage. She says that her green hair is natural and that her father was a furry green alien. Leaving Henry speechless.

Back on Earth she walks with Beast awaiting his answer on her offer to work alongside her. She believes he is smart enough and capable of questioning her moves and she feels she needs that professionally in light of her really messing up and they both lost men that they shouldn't have. Aside from that she states that they are compatible personally.

They are later seen together in a lab with Pixie, Anole, Nehzo and a few others. Both looking pleased.

Secret Invasion

Brand was seen in Secret Invasion #1, welcoming Dum Dum Dugan aboard the Peak, and after the ship explodes, she and several other personal that were aboard the Peak can be seen floating about in their emergency bubbles. She reports the Skrull armada is heading for Earth. She also witnesses the invasion along with other SWORD agents. She invades one the armada ships by breaking through their defenses and gaurds proving her talents as a commanding officer. As she reaches the control room, she sees the sight of the chaos done by the skrulls. After defeating a few more guards, she then frees Mister Fantastic who guides her to the Savage Lands. Upon reaching the place, she gets shocked as she wintesses that all the heroes their are actually skrulls.

 In Secret Invasion: Who Do You Trust? one-shot, Brand is shown floating in space amongst the debris of the Peak heading for Earth which she concludes that she may hit in 22 minutes. She decides to reflect while floating. She concludes that it was the Skrulls and is not pleased that she was disrespected by one in particular who had hinted at the infiltration/invasion to her. Angry that he taunted her that way she boards one of the Skrull ships that is passing her on it's route to earth and boards it determined to get even.

Unusual Features: Green hair. Has a tattoo on both upper arms her left has the name Anna and her right Grace

Powers and Abilities

Her hands can emit a bluish glow that can either serve to heat or set others a flame via tactile contact.

Survived a laser cannon blast to the torso as to how this was possible however has yet to be explained.

She can speak many Off-world languages the humans can't even form
