A-Next
A-Next is a comic book team that first appeared in What If? #105A-Next is the Marvel Comic’s MC2 Universe version of the Avengers Making its first appearance in What If? #105, The origin of A-Next was told in A-Next #1, October 1998
The A-Next are a group of super heroes that have taken on the new roll of The Avengers. Although they do not live up to the aspirations of the original team.
The Avengers have disbanded and the Avengers mansion is turned into the Avengers Museum, ten years later the museum is being visited by Kevin Masterson, son of the original Thunderstrike were he finds that the caretaker Jarvis, the former Avengers butler has been holding his father's enchanted mace for him. Loki appears looking to steal the mace for himself, his actions inadvertently starting the formation of a brand new team of young Avengers, related in various ways to former members.
The arrival of Loki and some Asgardian trolls prompts Jarvis to send out a distress signal.
The summons is responded to by several heroes including, Kevin Masterson, who was visiting the mansion at the time of the attack; Dr. Cassandra Lang who was testing Ant-Man's old uniform; a mysterious armored individual called Mainframe, Zane Yama, a high school student along with Speedball Jubilee and Jolt.
After being transported to Asgard, Kevin Masterson disrupts Loki spell and absorbs his fathers mace into himself thus transforming into the new Thunderstrike. The heroes aided by Thor's defeat, Loki and the trolls.
All the heroes but Speedball, Jubilee and Jolt decide to stay together and become the new Avengers.

• J2 : Zane Yama is a 15-year-old high school student and the son of the original Juggernaut (Cain Marko) and district attorney Sachi Yama.
• Mainframe : Mainframe is a self-aware computer program, created by Tony Stark ( Iron Man).
• Stinger : Dr. Cassandra Lang is the daughter of the second Ant-Man, Scott Lang. and the oldest member of the team, in her mid-20s,
• Thunderstrike : 18-year-old college student Kevin Masterson is the son of the original Thunderstrike.
• Jarvis: Director of operations.

• American Dream: Shannon Carter is the daughter of Sharon Carter. Her uniform is visually based on Captain America's.
• Bluestreak: Blue Kelso is impatient and a person who likes to get to the point.
• Crimson Curse: Aerika Harkness is related to the witch Agatha Harkness, former teacher to the Scarlet Witch.
• Freebooter: Brandon Cross was trained by Hawkeye and has shown proficiency with a variety of weapons as well as athletic skills.
• Kate Power: Kate Power was originally known as Energizer, the youngest member of Power Pack.
• Sabreclaw: Hudson Logan is the son of Wolverine and half-brother to Wild Thing. He possesses claws and a healing factor similar to Wolverine's.
• Thena: The daughter of Thor. She came to Earth searching for Kevin Masterson, sent by her father to restore his powers.
• Warp: A thief with the power to teleport. He originally worked for Sylene the daughter of Loki and Ulik, but when he learned that they planned to turn Earth into a new version of Asgard, he defected to the Avengers.
