    I am about to start reading 52. I understand that the basis of this story is that the big 3 are not in it. I have not read any final crisis or anything along those lines, so is the reason why they are not there explained? Is it a little bit of information I need to research or will I have to read a lot of comics to understand 52?

    @AgentOfAnarchy: I'd read Infinite Crisis first, if at all possible. 52 takes place right after it and they're both amazing arcs.
