5 Years From Now..Part One
This JLU Future's End installment is part one of a story that continues in the Justice League title.
Thankfully both issues are handled by Jeff Lemire and he paints a very bleak and barren landscape for the future of both leagues. Many members are missing, retired or dead. A ragtag group of members from both teams as well as members of the Legion of Super Heroes must team up and investigate a distress call from Mars.
Lemire makes magic with the major characters involved and some of the not so famous ones as well. He also borrows a few elements from other stories for a great first chapter in this 2 part story. I also really appreciate that this wasn't a throw away one shot and tied in with the other Justice League title.
Using the same writer for both books and one of Lemire's quality really make this a very cohesive and interesting story. It flows flawlessly into the 2nd part which I will review when I get time. The art is a bit cartoony but its also very fun and the colors are very well done. This is a great Futures End issue and definitely has me wanting to check out the regular JLU title.
