    A huge epic 2

    300 Spartans... a story we all know.  Frank Miller happened to write his version of this classic tale.  It is a story of stories, a huge epic.  A king takes only 300 men and hold off the world.  It is a great story of human determination and pride to protect ones homeland. There really is not much more then the historical retelling and a cool deformed spartan.  It does have its moments, such as Leonidas eating an apple while standing on a pile of fallen foes.  That makes this book a minimum of 3...

    Graphic Novel vs Movie 0

    I am one of the curious fans who wanted to know how faithful the magnificent movie is to the original source, Frank Miller’s graphic novel. The film directed by Zack Snyder is one that deserves a place in the annals of film history for its breathtaking cinematography, heart pumping fight sequences, teeth grinding dialogues, and probably the perfect cast I have ever seen.     Into the Valley of Death marched the 300... 0

    I had the feeling this was going to be a lot more graphic and grotesque than it turned out to be, which was a pleasant sort of surprise (though the casual nakededity was surprising and not my favorite part of the series). Miller does a good job capturing the potential mind of Leonidas - who knows what Leonidas was really like. As a Spartan king who managed to live so long, it's credible he was both toughened by his years of Spartan life and weary of such a lifestyle. The criticisms of some of it...
