If you've been reading the series or watched the first movie, this is the issue where we find out more about Selena and why she wanted to go back to London.
The Good
I'll admit I was pretty skeptical about how this series based off the movie would be. At twenty-one issues in, we're clearing seeing the characters go beyond what the movie was about. The main character Selena, has been determined to make it back to London. That finally happens in this issue. To further develop her character, we see some flashbacks to before her life was turned upside down. All she's known lately is her fight for survival. What secrets are there to be revealed about the character?
The Bad
It's interesting to see Selena and Clint try to adjust to their new situation but despite the mention that we were going to find out her secret goal, I didn't feel like it was really made clear. This issue was meant to be a good place for new readers to jump in. That may be the case but the lack of action in this issue might not be enough to keep them coming back for more.
The Verdict
I love that the world of 28 Days Later continues to be fleshed out beyond the movies. From the first issue, we've known that Selena has had a reason for agreeing to make the journey back to London. The glimpse into her past adds an interesting twist but the lack of action in this issue might not be enough of a selling point for new readers. Those that have been reading the series should be happy that we're finally getting some answers about Selena. This issue feels like the direction of the title could be taking a new direction.
