After an argument with his family, Buddy Baker heads to the desert for some time to think, but there he meets an usual creature: a wily coyote with the bizarre ability to survive brutally fatal attacks.

The story opens a year ago. A truck driver who has picked up a hitchhiker named Carrie speeds through Death Valley. She's a runaway going to Hollywood. He's a former drug addict, born again. While speeding along, they hit an anthropomorphic animal.

In the present, Buddy Baker, decides that his family should go vegetarian. He throws all the meat product from the family's refrigerator, much to his wife Ellen's chagrin. In the ensuing argument, Buddy storms off, flying to the desert to calm himself down and think.

Meanwhile, the trucker has tracked down the animal, which seems to have remarkable supernatural powers of regeneration. He's convinced that the beast is in fact the Devil.

    Sympathy for the Coyote 0

This has to be one of my all time favorite issues of any comic. I've read it several times over the years and it never gets old. Imagine a fusion of superheroes, religion and cartoons and you get some idea of what this issue is about.  To avoid spoilers, all I will say is, imagine for a minute, what if Wile E. Love! 0

This is another issue of animal man that needs a review. It's just perfect in every way. From start to finish. I can see why it gets a high praise. Not only does this issue break the fourth wall, but it's also leaves you with a bittersweet ending. This is a must read indeedI really like the multiple reference to early Looney Tunes cartoons mostly the Wile E. Coyote stuff, but also the cartoon Duck Amuck featuring Daffy Duck. Even having the truck's company with Ajax was perfect. Even thou...

In the piece, Animal Man meets an anthropomorphic coyote man who cannot be killed by the name of Crafty. Crafty hands Animal Man his “Gospel” which tells the story of his struggle. Crafty comes from a world that’s very much like the Looney Tunes cartoon universe. All day long, cartoon creatures are locked in ...
