    Pretty but slow 0

    This is an issue that does very little to advance the first issue's plot. In issue 1, we had a brief introduction to the characters of Mary and Andrew, as well as a setup of the major conflict between them. It ended with Andrew encountering Mary his sort of wayward lover and her army of vampire minions. In this issue, there's a confrontation between Andrew and Mary.The Good1) This book is gorgeous.     As I said with the first issue, I am maybe not the best person to judge a series focusing on vampires as I am not a loyal fan of the genre.  Unlike in the first issue though, this issue grew on me as I read it.  I initially felt it was very similar contextually to the first, especially so when the fighting broke out between Andrew and the vampire clan (though the action was decent enough).  It was really the final moments though which gave this a lot more meaning as the actions of Mary became a ...

    The Good: The opening dialogue is amazingly intense.... Scratch that, ALL of the dialogue is amazingly intense. Mary's love for Andrew is so ravenous in a wild way. She still burns for him even though they've become bitter enemies. The contrast between the two runs deep and complex.He was the Devil that came to he, a poor outcast child at the mercy of society's whims, but the Devil came along, and opened up a world much bigger than herself.
