This prestige format one-shot co-stars Bane, the man who broke Batman's back. Now he's back (so to speak) to wreak havoc on Gotham City, with a little help from some nuclear weapons.

The book opens with the last scene from Detective comics #701 where Batman defeats Bane and destroys the plague which he intended to spread.

They are floating in the ocean on what looks to be the remains of a burning pier, when a huge wave comes along knocking the Batman away from Bane.Batman was unable to catch Bane in his state of exhaustion. Bane knowing he is beaten lays down and floats, until a ship comes along. It turns out that the ship is a trveling nuclear power plant. Bane hi jacks the ship and returns to Gotham near Bludhaven, with the plan to use the ship as a bomb and destroy Gotham with it.
