    Hurwitz has done something I didn't think could be done - he kept Penguin's "wah wah wah" squawk and also made him into a menacing criminal. Penguin's been (from my various exposures to his character) a hard character to portray well. I think the idea (perhaps originating around the time of Batman: The Animated Series) of making him a gangster with a night club as a front has worked well.     The Story: Moments of Penguin's childhood are revealed. Penguin has his men steal the Dragon Egg Ruby for his mother.  My Thoughts:Gregg Hurwitz managed to do something similar that Geoff Johns recently did with Aquaman, he made a character who is often criticized look awesome. Hurwitz showed readers Penguin is a serious villain and kingpin of crime. He made him feared by all and did quite a good job in doing that.  I actually liked seeing flashbacks of Penguin's childhood.
